Milydaydreams on Microblading

"Eyebrows speak louder than words"
"Eyebrows on Fleek"
"Brow game STRONG"
"Never underestimate the power of the Brow"
"Don't let anyone with bad eyebrows tell you shit about life"

So. Many. Eyebrow. Quotes.

Brows have become mega important in recent years, I swear nobody gave a fig about their eyebrows when I was a teen? Not judging by the horrendous photographs of my friends and I at age 15 anyway, but these days you're likely to face a lynch mob or at least a good old social-media slating if you dare step outside without a perfectly turned out pair (I'm still talking about eyebrows here)

Over the years my brow "stye" (and I use that phrase extremely lightly) has ranged from wonky drawn-on lines, to wonky drawn-on rectangles to wonky drawn-on ombre-ish sort of tick-like shapes, there is a theme here. How many hours of my life have I wasted badly drawing lines on my face? Too many. So I decided to get them Microbladed

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi permanent tattoo brow treatment lasting 18-36 months and is perfect for sparse or misshapen brows, LIKE MINE! At last a better use of my time, maybe I can finally learn a new language or bake a successful cake now that I'm not wasting precious hours trying to make the upper part of my face meet societies cruelly high standards? The process involves a series of small needles which are used to create fine hair strokes on the skin, the needles vibrate together allowing the pigment to penetrate your skin thoroughly. I would like to say that it's easy and pain free but alas, these brows were not kissed on by kittens. It hurts. As someone who has experienced the pain of childbirth I can hands down say that this was worse. Pain aside, the sensation of the needles made me want to throw up and the loud scraping noise of blade on skin prompted numerous pleas for breaks as I attempted to regain some composure during the thirty minute session Luckily the results were worth the pain 1000 times over. I may have whinged and cried and done a little bit of sick in my mouth at one point but when I sat up and examined my new brows I knew it had all been worth it. See for yourself:

Ok so I was pre-lash rebalance in this photo. Follicley challenged in an understatement

So would I recommend? Yes

If you live in the Plymouth area and struggle with your brows I would definitely recommend booking in at BrowCandy for a treatment (BrowCandy is the fabulous brow-based offshoot of the wonderful NailCandy salon). Not only are the results fantastic but Meg, the Microblader extraordinaire and owner of the salon will put you instantly at ease with her friendly and relaxed manner, she even had me laughing at one point. Kudos girl. I don't actually know how I would have got through it without her comforting words but I'm so glad I did! Brows on fleek! I'm off to buy a French Dictionary and a Piping nozzle

A bit more info:

In order for the hair strokes to be so fine, the needles cannot go too deeply into the skin, which means they will fade over time. Unlike other permanent tattoo options which spread and form a block colour, microblading allows you to achieve a much more natural and subtle look The price for the treatment is £250, which includes the initial treatment and a top up after four weeks

  4. The effect of this procedure is noticeable immediately. I really liked how the face changed as a whole from changing the eyebrows.
