An afternoon in Wonderland at The Plymouth Blog Meet

“Have I gone mad?

I'm afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”

I arrived in traditional White Rabbit fashion, i.e late... to the Plymouth Blog meet on Saturdays warm and windswept May afternoon. Walking through the lush green Italian gardens of Mount Edgcumbe and entering the Wisteria hung doors of the Orangery Cafe I made a mental note to book afternoon tea here at my earliest convenience, it was a stunningly elegant setting. I made my rather wobbly way over to the roped off corner of the cafe, the previous nights cocktails rattling around in my forehead and entered Wonderland

“I'm afraid I can't explain myself, sir. Because I am not myself, you see?”

Settling in next to beautiful Rhian from Soalamode Blog I noted Bloggers from all over Devon and Cornwall gathering to network, share tips and view the demonstrations made by No.7 and Origins in a dreamlike Alice in Wonderland themed setting. Ellie of LittleEllieMae Blog was the proud organiser of the event, bringing together regional bloggers in one place to talk all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle during an afternoon of fun and whimsical folly. Cameras flashed, laughter rang out and music drifted over us as my blogging cohort chatted and quizzed one another and my heart filled with pride to be part of it. To be one of these few brave entrepreneurs of ambition, claiming their small corner of the internet for creative expression

“My dear, here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.”

After a heartfelt speech by Ellie and a goody giveaway we were back to networking, planning, building links and sharing insights. I made a beeline for the Origins counter, with a head full of questions on bridal facials and left with a mental shopping list (now somewhere in the postal system - stay tuned) and with a callback booked for my first in-store facial. As I moved on the No.7 Shimmer Palette was swiftly added to this list and as I strolled back down the tree lined avenue, goody bag in hand to begin my journey home I felt incredibly lucky. Lucky to have been able to spend a small yet significant snippet of my time with people so alive with passion that they sparkled, each and every one
