Block colours and Writers block

Writers block has hit me hard this week. I've learned over the years to just step back when it happens, to take some quiet time away from my blog and allow my thoughts to re-balance themselves in their own time. I owe it to myself and to you not to simply churn out any old rubbish when I feel like this. Building a consistently engaging and original narrative has become hugely important to me, it's become part of me. Writing is like having manic depression, sometimes I'll wake in the middle of the night and scribble page after page. I'll sit at my desk and forget to eat or drink for hours on end as I frantically type. There are phrases and sentences and half-formed ideas scratched onto every available scrap of paper in the house and I fall asleep with a days worth of pens positioned haphazardly in my hair

But then, in the aftermath, there are moments when everything becomes still and my brain feels like a sponge that's been wrung out. Perhaps it comes with age, much as I prefer to save my money for quality items, I prefer to save my thoughts for when they are once again clear and free-flowing. Therefore much of my week has been spent at the gym as the treadmill is my favoured place to think. What were once 2K runs have become, 6, 8, 10K as I chase some invisible clarity. Huge chunks of time have also been given to simply being outside by the water, sitting and thinking as the world rushes by in a hurry. I can feel the fog slowly lifting now, scribbles are becoming sentences once again, ideas are formulating. Sometimes you just need a little time, that most valuable of commodities and to tell yourself that it's ok. A blank page isn't demonstrative of a blank mind or a blank heart
