I love red lipstick but I do not love how high maintenance it
is. I don’t love it all over my coffee cups, I don’t love it smeared across my
teeth and I especially don’t love it all over my boyfriend’s face every time we
fancy a sneaky smooch. There is nothing sneaky about me looking like Krusty the
clown and him looking like he has a mild facial rash.
This year is definitely the year of the Matte lip, news
which came as great relief in the wake of aforementioned lipstick mishaps.
Matte lips means DRY lips. Lipsticks and glosses which go on, go dry and then
don’t go anywhere else or anything else or on anyone else.
MUA luxe velvet lip lacquers are my go to product for Matte
Lips. Colour goes on, colour dries to an appealing Matte appearance, colour stays
put. Plus they retail at £3 so there really is no excuse not buy the entire
range and go a bit experimental with your colour palette.
As testament to the staying power of this product I decided
to test it out by applying it just once and seeing how long it would last. I
did cheat slightly and line my lips first with a red Chanel pencil (Shade 24:Rouge) but the MUA luxe velvet lip
lacquer (Shade: Reckless) remained the
key focus of the experiment. It lasted through a whole day at IKEA, 4 hours in
the car, 3 cups of coffee, dinner and a rather violent spell of opening
packaging with my teeth – blame the IKEA induced hysteria.
And guess what? It was still on and intact when I settled down to my nightly
cleansing, toning, exfoliating, serum-applying moisturising routine that
evening. So if you are looking for a high impact, low maintenance product then this is definitely the one for you.

I love MUA's products. I've been wanting these lip lacquers for ages but they're always out of stock in store. The one time it wasn't I reluctantly resisted as I was on a spending ban...
ReplyDeleteNext time I'm just going to get them anyway :)

It took me ages to get hold of this red one, they were always sold out! Worth grabbing any MUA stuff when you see it, ban or no ban it goes quick and is so cheap you can kind of justify it lol :)

I always struggle with finding something that will last so long. Definitely going to have to give this a try! xo
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you get on :) I tend to forget I'm wearing lippy and then forget to top it up but it's not a problem with this stuff!

These sound really good! MAC matte lipsticks stay on me but dry my lips out sooo much!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bloglovin.com/blog/10552645 or amygatenby.blogspot.co.uk xx
I'm exactly the same! I tend to apply a balm while I'm doing the rest of my make-up and then wipe it off before applying any matte product so my lips get a good moisture injection first. With the MUA ones that was more than enough to keep them from drying out all day but the MAC Mattes are just too drying for long term wear - high maintenance!
DeleteLet me know if you try them and I'll check out your blog in the meantime :)

I love how red lipstick looks on everyone else but I never like it on me... The fifth shade is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletexx, Be || lovefrombe
The fifth shade is the Red is question :) Worth getting the whole lot if you can though at that price!
DeleteYou should keep trying out different shades of red, I'm sure you'll find one that suits you. I can't do the orange tone reds as they make my teeth look yellow but a blue tone is great for me :)

I love a red lippie it's my go to. I've actually eyed up the MUA lacquers on a few Superdrug visits and looks like I'm going to have to make the purchase next time.

Aw I was quite dissapointed with MUA's lip lacquer. I bought atomic & find it doesn't have much staying power :-/ Some gorgeous colours though!! Love your writing style! I'm a new follower.

Oh no! They always last really well on me but then I always do a thorough prep with lips such as using a Lipcoat or liner, maybe that affects their staying power? Might be worth giving it a try :)
