May Must Haves

Here are my Beauty must haves for May, everything from lipcare to natural Hayfever remedies... Enjoy!

HayMax

Recommended by the Sundaygirl.com HayMax Balm is a natural remedy for hayfever. Natural and  drug free, Haymax is made up of Organic Bee’s wax and Sunflower Oil, this version is unscented but they also do an Aloe Vera version. You simply apply a little to the inside of your nostrils to prevent pollen from entering your nose.

I’m off the Antihistamine wagon for a while now and as a major hayfever sufferer I’ve found this stuff to be a pretty good alternative, although I will have to track down something to tackle the pollen irritation to my eyes to use alongside Haymax. Definitely worth giving this stuff a try if you’re suffering!

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks

Ordered but yet to arrive, my beautiful new Tarte Amazonian butter lipstick. Tarte isn’t a brand widely available in the UK at present so I turned to my trusty and reliable friend; eBay and opted to import one from the US. I’ve ordered the 4th shade in, Pink Poinsettia – I was sorely tempted by the Candy Red before sharply reminding myself that already own approximately 73 Red lipsticks and that the addition of a 74th was a tad unnecessary.

I’ve read wonderful things about the Tarte Brand in general and the packaging of these beautiful lipsticks tempted me to take the plunge and jump on the Tarte Bandwagon. Full review coming up next month.

Carolina Herrera 212 Surf, for her

Having trudged around in the men’s addition of Paco Rabane One Million all winter I’ve been looking for something a little more feminine and fresh for summer. 212 Surf for her is definitely that! Whilst managing to be both musky and fresh at the same time it has a beautiful floral scent that won’t overpower you. Plus the packing is great, there are actually two small bottles of 30ml fitted into each end of the container. I quickly found a spare lid I had lying around and deemed the fact that I now had an easy travel-sized bottle to be both exciting and thoroughly handy.
Carolina Herrera 212 Surf £26.99 60mls

Bourjois Instant dry nail drops

So when I heard about Bourgois Instant dry nail drops I was straight down to Boots to try it out. Guess what? It really works! Just paint on your chosen polish, pop on a couple of drops of this stuff using the handy dropper applicator and wait for a minute or so – Tadaaa! Dry nails!

I would recommend applying the product in between coats before dropping on top of a clear top coat for the best results. This stuff is honestly such a timesaver as we roll on into flip flop weather.

This stuff is amazing! As I’ve said before, my finger nails are not my concern and the task of caring for them has long been delegated to my very talented nail technician. My toes on the other hand are my sole responsibility and as I am not the most patient of women they often leave a lot to be desired in terms of smudged polish and chipping.

Balmi Cube and Lanolips Lip Balms

I’ve been on the hunt for new lip balms. I love my trusty tin of Vaseline but it’s simply not exciting or indeed intensive enough for me at the moment.

Balmi Cube Lip Balms definitely fall into the excitement category with their cute cubic packaging and amazingly strong scents, honestly you would not believe such a tiny balm could smell so beautiful. The Balm is also cone shaped inside the packaging meaning that application is really easy, this is where I think they have the edge of the other cylindrical Balmi designs. They come in a variety of flavours; Raspberry, Strawberry, Mint and Coconut and offer added SPF protection

Balmi Cube Lip Balms £4.99

My other favourite Lip find this week has been Lanolips Lemon Oil Lip Aid. Lanolips is an ultra rich and creamy whipped lanolin lip treatment with organic lemon oil to naturally exfoliate, leaving lips fresh, soft and moist. Hailed as natures “wonder moisturiser” Lanolips certainly lived up to its name, as a prolific lip biter I constantly have dry chapped lips that never quite look fully recovered no matter what product I smear them with. However after just one application of Lanolips I noticed a marked difference and after a full days use my lips were totally smooth and chap-free.

It’s a little pricier than most other lip balms but if you struggle to find a product that fully heals your lips then give this stuff a try because this is the only product I’ve found that 100% works and fast. The Lanolips range also comes in a variety of flavours and as an important added bonus is Animal Cruelty free.

The Bodyshop Mango Body Scrub & Satsuma Eau de Toilette

I’m on a bit of a Citrus craze at the moment. The Bodyshop is my go to place for bath and body care, I think I must be one of the very few who isn’t on board the Lush Cosmetics Bandwagon as I find the scents of their products far too overpowering and sickly. Fresh crisp citrus is more my cup of tea.

I popped along on Friday afternoon, laden down with bags full of all the other purchases on this post and picked up a Mango Body Scrub which left my skin feeling amazing and smelling fresh and fruity. The scrub is sugar based and contains ground Mango seed – it’s perfect for a bit of pre-tanning exfoliating and leaves you smelling great all day

Mango Body Scrub £12.50 200mls

I also picked up a zingy Satsuma Eau de Toilette, I don’t like to wear perfume everyday as I tend to get too used to the smell and the novelty quickly wears off which isn’t fun when you’ve splashed out on something expensive. A spritz or two of this fresh and zingy scent is great for when I don’t fancy wasting my decent scent on a day at the office but still want to smell nice. I also like a nice spray of this stuff before I hop into bed each night; it’s lovely to sniff at while I’m reading my book. Let’s face it at £8.50 for a bottle I can happily spray it on whenever I like without anxiously rationing it like my Marc Jacobs stuff.

Satsuma Eau de Toilette £8.50 30mls

Let me know if you try out any of this weeks Beauty Must-haves!
